Wollaston Needs You!

WHY?

On the 1st May 2025, all Wollaston Parish Councillors will step down from their roles as Parish Councillors and all 13 seats will be available on the Parish Council.  This is an exciting opportunity to represent your village of Wollaston and help keep it a great place to live, work and play.

WHY BECOME A PARISH COUNCILLOR?

It’s a great opportunity to be involved in making decisions for the Village and to make a difference, improve the community and put forward your ideas!

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

You will be expected to attend Parish Council meetings, held in the Village Hall, which are held on the third Thursday of the month (except for August).  There are also sub committees such as the Playing Fields and Parks Management Committee and the Wollaston Village Hall Management Committee which may interest you.  The majority of meetings are held in the evenings to accommodate working hours.

You will be expected to receive information for the meetings which will need to be read and considered.  You will be assigned free training where relevant and a separate Cllr. Email address to ensure GDPR is adhered to.

DO I MEET THE CRITERIA?

To become a Parish Councillor, you must be over 18 years of age, be a British Citizen (or a citizen of the Commonwealth (see local-voting-rights-for-EU-citizens-living-in-the-UK on the ‘Government Publications’ website if you are an EU citizen), not have a criminal record, be bankrupt or be currently employed by the local council. Be registered as a local government elector for the Parish of Wollaston (or during the whole of the 12 months preceding May 1st 2025, be registered as an owner or tenant, land or other premises in the Parish of Wollaston).

You will need to be a positive person, be willing to work with the other friendly Councillors and Clerk, have a can-do attitude, be computer literate and present your ideas and comments in a constructive attitude.
