Pre app has now been submitted following the Transport Statement submission. Anticipated wait of 2/3 months and then potential Architect final plans if required. Finances – we have been successful with a £10,965 Rural Community Capital Funding Grant (50% paid, 50% upon completion of the project) to help with pre-build costs. Awaiting decision on the £600,000 LUF application – decision expected over the summer. Meeting arranged with NNC Early Years (Kelly Gasson), Cllr Greg Carter and Busy Bees for 23rd May. Greg to update following this meeting.
The Clerk passed cheque payment from Bowls Club for June to the Treasurer. Finances were circulated, no issues. Wave/Anglian Water account has been blocked, Geoff to contact to re-instate and continue to query amount. E-on smart meters are now installed, need to gauge the readings after a period of time. It was noted that the Heating had been left on on a few occasions. All regular users have paid to date. Geoff raised the issue of increasing the hire charge for regular users, it was agreed that due to the new build, this should be re-visited at a later date when running costs are established. NNC have increased the black bin emptying charge by 3% from July. Debit card to be applied for from HSBC following rejection from Lloyds bank application due to not taking on any Charitable Trust customers.
There had been no applicants from the recent Treasurer role advert issued on the website, Facebook and village noticeboards. Role needs to be filled asap and will potentially have to be an employed role. Greg and Mike to follow up.
There had been a few bookings over the past month for children’s parties, Heritage film showings etc and the feedback has been very good with the process and communication. Polling Day on May 2nd ran very smoothly with excellent feedback from all involved with the logistics. Bookings for May are quiet, but “Midas Touch” a jewellery valuation company have booked for the 26th May.
Communications with the Cleaner are going very well with a new system to keep supplies stocked. No issues reported from other regular users, but please raise with Jaza any issues going forward.
Maintenance – the Cleaner has raised a concern with odour from men’s toilets – Jaza to look into.
Reports of the kitchen door being left unlocked after private events – please inform Jaza if this continues in order that she can contact the hirer.
Successful open morning with 6 new children registered for September and 2 new children have recently enrolled. Penny advised that the brown bin in the bin store was full of black bin rubbish which they are slowly emptying into the black bin for disposal. Jaza to reiterate that all users should clear their rubbish in the correct manner.
Report sent in – Youth Club continues with up to 10 members and 4 leaders and they intend to advertise for additional helpers. The members are currently enjoying the outside space and have been asked to respect the area. Visits have been made by Arts & Crafts experts from Northants Association of Youth Clubs and a visit from the games leader at NAYC. Payment for hall hire has been made and the Youth Club would like to thank WVHMC for their continued support.
No issues, currently preparing for the July show at the Castle Theatre. One of the pupils is auditioning for the Royal Ballet School this month.
Fran requested if the anticipated length of time is known for the Village Hall closure due to the re development and whether the closures could be timed to prevent less disruption (for example delay start to spring 2025 to fall over the summer holiday period) It is not known at this stage how long the closure will be for but anticipated at around 6 months minimum. More information will be available once builders are involved. The Clerk advised that the £10,965 Rural Grant was based on the stipulation that the project was completed by February 2025.
