WOLLASTON VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT
COMMITTEE MEETING
6.30pm, Tuesday 16th May 2023
Village Hall, Wollaston
Present: Greg Carter, Geoff Simmons (Treasurer), Maureen Green, Fran Woods, Penny Morten, Kathy Betts and Suzanne Grant (Clerk)
Apologies: Dr Mike Goldsmith (Chair), Helen Warden, Rep from Bowls club.
Greg welcomed everyone to the meeting. Apologies were given as above.
The minutes from the meeting which took place on 04 April 2023 were agreed and signed.
All contracts now signed (Helen & Hayley). Clothes Bank – it was agreed at the last meeting that a decision had been made to not facilitate this.
No further updates from the Duchy.
Figures to be updated & circulated by Geoff asap, although no major difference from previous month. Geoff has finally made contact with the water company with hopes to resolve the meter issue and potentially obtain a credit, photos of the two water meters were taken by Geoff to send over. The accounts need to be reviewed & audited (potentially same Audit company as the Parish Council?). Greg to raise at next PC meeting.
No update. Clerk to send over the Cleaning Schedule to Greg.
Penny advised all going well. There has been a number of staff changes and 4 new children enrolled. Lots of marketing on Facebook and in the Library. Penny advised that the garden area at the rear is very overgrown and needs attention. Clerk to investigate who is responsible for this and the cost involved. Health and Safety policies had been reviewed and it was noted that potentially the outer tips of the steps into the Village Hall should be painted. Richard Morten has agreed to carry this out free of charge – all in agreement.
No report. Greg to speak to Debra Styles as a representative is needed. There was no Youth Club meeting on the 11th due to lack of staff. Geoff confirmed all finances were paid up.
No report.
All good – no issues.
There has been a user request from a lady called Hayley who requested usage for an early morning (6.30am) exercise class. It was unanimously agreed that this would be objected to due to the noise levels in a residential area at such an early time. Helen/Greg to look into any other timeslots available in the Oasis (8.30am earliest time) and report back to Hayley.
Helen Warden has requested usage of the Oasis facilities on a Monday 9.30am to 12.30pm for a home education group – all agreed.
Geoff to send over a full list of users to Clerk in order that we can approach for representation at the meeting.
Tuesday 6th June 2023, 6.30pm Village Hall Lounge.
