Mike welcomed everyone to the meeting. Apologies given as above.
The minutes of the meeting which took place on 3rd February 2026 were agreed and signed.
None from the previous meeting.
The Developer Contributions Board meeting held on Thursday 12th February 2026 endorsed the use of the S106 funding requested by Wollaston Parish Council towards delivery of the Wollaston Village Hall project. This endorsement is subject to several further approval stages and the submission of a more detailed works programme, which will be informed by the outcome of the planning application and the preferred tender submission.
The next stage is to arrange a Community Consultation, including preparation of a storyboard and funding proposals. These materials will need to be incorporated into the full planning application. It is anticipated that the building will be completed by January 2028.
Dr. Martens have confirmed their commitment to a £50,000 grant towards the project.
The closing bank balance as of February 28th was £25,591.53 (see attached). This figure includes the amount of £525.67 received from the Youth Club that closed in August 2024, this money will be ring fenced for any future spending on youth projects.
Regular bookings are coming in weekly. We have had interest from a wrestling company to hold some events in the main hall, which should be fun. A last-minute cancellation was received last week for a party and therefore they were refunded the hire fee and deposit. It was unanimously agreed that a clause be written into the terms and conditions that we reserve the right to not refund the deposit. A new user holding dry clay classes has requested to become a regular user. They pay the commercial rate of £16 and we have a deposit on hold already. They have their own liability insurance. It was unanimously agreed that the new user should sign the new user contract.
Maintenance – The main hall roof leak was fixed at the beginning of the month. The Oasis window has been damaged and now repaired at a cost of £80.00. The crack in the main hall flooring was fixed at the weekend, a simple fix and now safe to walk and dance on. There is a light out in the ladies bathroom which requires a new fitting – it was agreed to proceed. There has been no response from the roofing company regarding the Oasis guttering, so a new quote has been obtained from a separate company who have availability for this Sunday – it was agreed to proceed with this. Still waiting to hear back from the landscaping company regarding the slab re-laying.
Sian reported the sad news that Busy Bees will be closing at the end of April. The Pre-School is unfortunately just not financially able to continue on the reduced hours. Busy Bees thanked the committee for their continued support and advice over the years and passed on their wishes for success in the future. Busy bees confirmed that they aim to be vacant and de cluttered by the first week of May.
