WOLLASTON VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT

COMMITTEE MEETING

6.30pm, Tuesday 7th July 2026

Oasis Lounge, Wollaston

Present:     Cllr Mike Goldsmith (Chair), Cllr Greg Carter, Jaza Babar (Caretaker/Cleaner), Kathryn Betts, Maureen Green and Suzanne Grant (Clerk).

Apologies: Fran Woods (Studio 52 Dance), Mary Burbidge (Treasurer).

  1. Welcome and Apologies

Mike welcomed everyone to the meeting.  Apologies given as above.

  1. Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the meeting which took place on 2nd June 2026 were agreed and signed.

  1. Matters Arising

None from the previous meeting.

  1. New Community Centre and Preschool

Public consultation was held on Tuesday 30th June at the Village Hall with PHP architects in attendance, approximately 50 people attended with useful feedback.  The library window display has been booked between 6th-11th July to display the information boards.  After this date all feedback will be collected and discussed.   All regular users to be copied in on meeting minutes going forward to ensure that they are kept updated.  Jaz will provide email addresses to the Clerk.

  1. Treasurer’s Report

The closing bank balance as of June 30th was £25,057.54 (see attached).    Increase on ad-hoc bookings due to a 2-week booking for a company training course.  Anglian Water have advised of a potential leak at the Village Hall – Jaz to contact them.

Charity Commission Annual Return 2025 to be returned by 27th July 2026.  For the first time, a request for various policies and procedures has been made, we do not currently have these in place and therefore “NO” will selected on the online form and the committee will pick these up after the summer break with a deadline of Christmas 2026 to be completed.

  1. Caretaker’s Report

Ad hoc bookings have slowed, and two prospective regular users have withdrawn their interest due to the planned Village Hall redevelopment.

It was agreed that, once a more definitive timetable for the renovation works is available, the WVHMC will support regular users by providing details of alternative venues or contacts within the village who may be able to accommodate their activities during the redevelopment period.

  1. Studio 52 Dance Academy

No report.  Will re-open on September 12th after the Summer break.

  1. Other Users/AOB

Clerk to respond to the Northamptonshire Film Archive Trust that the Village Hall is happy to work with them in partnership to put on a film show in February 2027.  They have been awarded an NNC Members Empowerment Grant to pay for the hire of the venue and the entrance charge profits will be shared between the Village Hall and the NFAT.  Wollaston Village Hall to sell tickets – Jaz has kindly offered to take this project on and will arrange a meeting to discuss further.

  1. Date of Next Meeting

Tuesday September 1st, 2026, 6.30pm Village Hall Lounge.
