25/060 – REPORTS

  • New Community Centre/preschool Update – Unfortunately our plans have been rejected by NNC S106 Team based on the demographic changes since the original Section 106 agreement was entered into, as well as the change in demand for the range and scale of early years provision in the area, they are concerned that the revised village hall proposals do not appear to deliver an adequate number of places to meet sufficiency requirements (nursery age children). We are still awaiting a further meeting with the S106 and Early Learning Years Team to establish if there are any alternative options that could support improvement or expansion works for the Village Hall, despite continuous chasing.
  • Playing fields & Parks Management Committee (Draft Minutes to follow). The new MUGA courts are now open, however the Playing Field committee were all in agreement that the acrylic MUGA surface finish was not at all satisfactory.  The finished surface is not smooth and does not appear to have multiple coats as per the quotation.  Contact to be made with The Playground Company to arrange a site visit to discuss.  The S106 monies have not yet been received from NNC, but payment will not be made until the Committee is satisfied with the acrylic surface.
  • Streetlights – no issues. Street Doctor Report (Appendix 7), large number of potholes reported.
  • Footpaths Update – no issues.
  • Village Hall management Committee Update – (Draft minutes to follow. Depending on the outcome of the Village Hall S106 Early Years infrastructure project, rent for all users will be reviewed as the Accounts and Budget to 30th September 2025 shows a forecast of £23,140.55 at the end of September which is a loss of 26% in a year. Busy Bees will need to resume with paying rent as the Village Hall can no longer financially support them. It was noted that the Wollaston and Strixton preschool was oversubscribed.
  • Crime and Community Safety Update – figures provided by Northants Police confirmed that 16 crimes were reported in April. Police surgery dates for the next six months have been sent to the library for approval.
