26/163 – REPORTS OF THE WORKING PARTIES/REPRESENTATIVES

  • New Community Centre/preschool update (MG/JM/GC) – Cllr Carter will be speaking to the Architect to discuss the revised plans for the extended kitchen and the large graphics required for the public consultation which will now take place post Easter due to the delay. There has been no further correspondence from the NNC S106 team regarding the next steps/legal documentation.  Cllr Carter to chase.
  • Playing fields & Parks Management Committee (TS) – (draft minutes attached). (TS)  – The Pyghtles play area has had complete new wet pour surface laid to eliminate the trip hazards caused by old flooring.  Street Doctor –many potholes have been added to the report awaiting repair.  Street Lighting – St Mary’s Church floodlights have been temporarily repaired, but further work may be required.  Awaiting quotation.
  • Footpaths Update – Permissive footpath signage for Shepherds Hill will be put into place shortly and a map together with an explanation will be issued onto social media and the Summer Edition of the Wollaston Together magazine.
  • Village Hall management Committee Update (MG) – no issues. Busy Bees preschool will be closing their doors on April 29th due to financially being unable to continue due to the reduced hours available at the village hall.  The Village Hall committee are to advertise for new tenants.  Maintenance work on the roof and flooring has been carried out.  Further maintenance for the guttering is imminent.
  • Crime and Community Safety Update (NF) – figures provided by Northants Police confirmed that 7 crimes were reported in February.
  • Summers Grange Update (JB) The previously reported dead trees have now been replaced. An additional 20mph advisory speed sign has been installed, and no further reports of speeding have been received. Councillor Barber advised that there is a spare 20mph sign available for installation within the village.

“Dogs on leads” signage cannot be affixed to the new bollards due to their shape; it was suggested that these signs be installed on the dog waste bins within the area instead.

Ongoing issues remain with bins not being emptied. This matter will be raised at the meeting with Bloor Homes scheduled for 20 March, along with concerns regarding the inadequate play area, the provision of solar lighting for bollards, and the “country paths,” which are currently not fit for purpose despite the addition of metal to prevent deterioration in wet weather.
