25/043 – TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE OF ERECTING TWO NEW SOLAR POWERED VAS UNITS.

It was unanimously agreed to purchase two new stand alone poles for the new solar powered VAS units at a cost of approximately £1,200-£1,400 for both.  This is due to the fact that they cannot be placed onto current Balfour Beatty lampposts due to the size and weight.

25/044 – CLERK’S REPORT

Election update – 4 new Councillors joining the Council on May 6th and they will be booked onto “Off to a Flying Start” training course with NCALC.  Paperwork for all 13 Councillors will be handed out at the May meeting.

Response from Highways on Cobbs Lane inconsiderate driving/speeding – a temporary board below the warning sign has been mounted to advise drivers going into the village they are approaching a zebra crossing as a reminder of the speed limit but also to help highlight the sign itself.

“In general, if we do ever consider physical traffic calming, we receive strong objections as well as support, it tends to be something which polarises opinion. We can only consider physical traffic calming in a situation where there is ongoing evidence of regular injury collisions which could only be resolved by physical traffic calming such as speed humps or cushions, as this allows us to over-rule objections. At present there is no such evidence for this on Cobbs Lane.

We receive collision data regularly from the Police, and we monitor all reports as they are received to help us identify any locations where further investigation may be required. This means we can take early steps to identify and investigate if a new pattern or cluster may be developing”.   Update on Double Yellow Lines application top of Hookhams Path to be carried forward to the May meeting as a working party is required.

Clerk Holiday – Thursday May 1st pm return to work Wednesday 7th May 12 noon.
