SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

Cricket season has now finished, it was a good year for all teams with a strong youth element. Work on the cricket wicket has been carried out.

Football – fixtures are being issued 3 months ahead in order to facilitate the Under 15’s, Rushden and Diamonds U18’s and the Vets who are all using the main pitch. The younger age groups are using the junior pitches.

Septic Tank update – Mr Silsby and Mr Perry to meet with Steve Parkin to discuss and Mr Jones to follow up with a company in Irthlingborough. There has been a leak in the disabled toilet, the tiles have been replaced by volunteers, requires a new LED light. Clerk chased the outstanding invoice for the SA Insurance contribution.

MUGA UPDATE

An onsite meeting was held on 8th October with Mr Martin Knipe of the Playground Company to discuss proposed MUGA Sports Court to be purchased using the S106 monies (£136k for playing pitches plus £20k historical S106 monies) relating to the Hookhams Path development. The proposal is for two separate courts, court 1 to be a multi-use court with artificial sports grass with football, basketball and netball lines, in-built football goals and adjustable basketball units. The artificial grass is low maintenance, anti-slip and hard wearing with a 10-year guarantee. Court 2 to be an acrylic surface for better tennis ball bounce but will mirror the lines of court 1 for other sports. Fencing to be 3m high twin wire mesh (Mr Perry to check strength of fence for football use), existing kickboards will no longer be required. Mr Perry to chase Playground Company for locations of existing sites in order to view their work and send through the video to the Committee. Parish Council to chase the process for the S106 monies due. Estimated cost is c£80K and the proposal is to place an order, pay a deposit to hold the price for anticipated spring 2025 commencement. Other options include drainage work and extended car parking facilities if these can be included within the S106 monies. Thank you to Mr Perry for his continued hard work on this project.

PURCHASES REQUIRED

Blunt blades on Hayter require sharpening, Mr Silsby to organise.

Mr Savage and Clerk attended a meeting with Timotay to discuss competitive quotation for wet pour shrinkage repairs (£3k) for St Marys and Playing Fields. On hold until end of financial year, due to budget constraints.
