MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting from 8th October 2025 were agreed unanimously and signed as a correct record.

FINANCES

Finances to end of October had been circulated – no issues.  The draft budget for 2026/2027 was agreed and set at £18,000 (see attached).  Mr Savage to request a resolution at the November Parish Council meeting to use £9,000 of the historic S106 Neale Close/Pyghtles monies to replace the safety flooring at the Pyghtles play park – 3 quotes have been obtained.

PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE

Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheet to the Clerk.  All urgent repairs are booked in for November 19th – 21st for St Marys and London Road playparks as per the annual audits carried out in June and August of this year.  The total cost is £2,597.85 plus VAT and the unused wet pour project money will be used for this from the Parish Council.  Further repairs will be accounted for in the 2026/2027 budget.  New balance bar and stepping posts have been ordered for St Marys play park, and these are due to be installed late November (£3,125).

MUGA UPDATE

Clerk to invoice Sport Association for October Floodlight usage of 4 hours.  Clerk to chase electrician for date for floodlight works to be carried out as continually tripping.  Replacement screws are required to replace ones that have fallen away in the MUGA.  Clerk to organise.  Continued issues with bikes and rubbish on the MUGA.  It was agreed that offending users should be warned that if this continues, then the MUGA will be locked and available via booking only.  Issues with the lines on the tennis courts becoming slippery when wet, it was agreed that the regular users can move the net and posts to the other artificial grass court and return back after use.

Replacement basketball unit has been delivered to the Clerk’s office, arrangements to be made to move this to the Playing Field compound using a van as soon as possible.

POCKET PARK

Mr Thompson continues to work hard keeping the garden tidy and the brown bin is being emptied fortnightly.

SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

Football season is going well for all groups. No issues with the septic tank but is due to be emptied.  Junior pitch has been re-seeded – it was agreed that the pitches had been heavily used for junior training.  Booking system for new MUGA at Wollaston School is not available until January 2026 and the Club has been invited to trial the pitch, once this is up and running, it could potentially relieve the pressure on the playing field pitches.  Mr Silsby had forwarded a quotation for a 2-year maintenance plan for ground works for the entire playing field (attached).  Mr Perry to look into FA ground testing before commencing a S106 business plan – there is £49,813 available from the S106 monies which would, with the Hybrid cricket wicket, use this this money in totality.

Winter Season – an electrician will shortly be installing special heated loops around the water pipes for the Sports Association which will result in the heaters not being constantly on during the winter season.

PURCHASES REQUIRED

Tree works from Tree Audit – 3 quotations have been obtained for Priority 1 & 2 works.  Estimated cost is c£4,000K.  Clerk and Mr Savage to arrange.

£700 playing field hedge cut.

£340 Tennis Courts lighting electrician.

£3,125 new play equipment at St Mary’s.

£500 mowing payment to Cricket Club.

FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD

Rabbit numbers continue to be high, now moving into the ferreting season to help control numbers, notice will be given to landowners in advance.

Car parking – it was noted that cars are still being parked on the road even with overflow notices in place.  This is due to crossover between youth training and friendlies – the gate will be opened where possible for parking to avoid this issue.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

Wednesday 10th December 2025 at 7pm at the Village Hall, High Street, Wollaston.  Apologies received from Cllr John Mitchell.

There being no further business the Chair thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8:20pm.
