FINANCES
Finances to end of April 2025 had been circulated – no issues.
PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE
Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheet to the Clerk. Clerk confirmed that Finding Fitness will be installing the new Monkey Challenge Climbing Wall in St Mary’s on June 2nd.
The wet pour repair on St Mary’s and London Road play areas had been subject to 3 lots of vandalism.
Request received for an additional piece of gym equipment at the playing fields – there is currently not a budget for any further equipment due to the installation of the upgraded MUGA and climbing wall.
POCKET PARK
Opening and closing continues to be sporadic and the padlock is still missing. Mr Silsby to speak to Scott Bader Security again. Mr Thompson continues to work hard keeping the garden tidy.
SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT
Cricket season has started well. There are 93 youth aged between 6 and 15 years signed on. An under 13’s girls’ team is being established to comply with ECB regulations. Various tournaments to be held over the summer including mixed softball on 22nd June and 3 school festivals (12th/19th June with NS Sport) and 9th July (Wollaston Senior School).
It was agreed that Mr Perry should talk to Mr Cotter to suggest that a 2-month break should be taken over the summer with youth football to enable the grass to rest and recover and to ensure that any monies spent on grass maintenance are not wasted.
Mr Perry has spoken to Calor Gas to report an unauthorised delivery of gas.
Cricket Club will be looking into applying for a grant for solar panels.
MUGA UPDATE
The committee were all in agreement that the acrylic MUGA surface finish was not at all satisfactory. The finished surface is not smooth and does not appear to have multiple coats as per the quotation. Mr Perry to speak to Mr Knipe of The Playground Company to arrange a site visit to discuss. The S106 monies have not yet been received from NNC, but payment will not be made until the Committee is satisfied with the acrylic surface. The Clerk confirmed that the additional premium to insure the MUGA is £537.12 (this includes Public Liability and All Risks cover). It was agreed that this should be actioned. Sand needs to be purchased for the basketball bases, but this is on hold until the acrylic surface has been sorted. New MUGA rule signs have been purchased, to be put up on both gates by Mr Savage and Mr Jones. Clerk to ensure that the new MUGA courts are included in the annual audit.
PURCHASES REQUIRED
None required.
