PLAYING FIELD & PARKS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON Wednesday 10 May 2023, 7pm

MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting from 11 April 2023 were agreed unanimously and signed as a correct record.

FINANCES

Finances to end of April 2023 had been circulated together with budget figures. Clerk to clarify Barton Petroleum payment with Miss Styles on 18/05/23

PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE

Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheets to the Clerk. (some issues with toddler swing bolts). Clerk has booked play equipment audit for St. Marys and Playing Field for June 7th. TennisCourtCleanhasbeenbookedforw/cJune5th. AdultGym–informationboardisbroken.

POCKET PARK

The Pocket Park continues to look nice and tidy. Thanks to everyone helping with opening and closing the site.

SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

Vics football, tough year with major player availability issues resulting in cancelled games, considering dropping the reserve side next season as 1st team Manager and assistant not continuing. The 1st Team and reserve results are generally good should finish mid table. Vets – currently 3rd, numbers good, should get promoted, no major issues. Start of the cricket season has been affected by poor weather. Cricket youth (age 5-9) numbers are good with approx. 10 coaches available on a Friday night. The overseas player from Australia has settled in well. The cricket club and football club transfer of the bar went well. Front of clubhouse wall is being replaced next week. Gable ends have been repaired. Water Leak – pipes repaired, ceiling damage for 3 water damaged panels has been quoted at £800. Mr Perry to obtain another quote. Clerk to check with Miss Styles water leak insurance details. Mr Jones & Mr Ward doing a great job with grass cutting. Grounds expert brought in to quote work (drainage. Disc cut, seeding etc) on pitches approx. £1600 . Seed is currently very expensive. Discussed that Mr Cotter (youth) pay half in order to have more control over top youth pitch. Ideally work needs to be carried out now or September.

PURCHASES REQUIRED

The tennis courts need to be cleaned – Clerk has booked for w/c 5th June. Mr Savage to arrange new tennis net once courts are cleaned. The repaint at St. Marys play area should be carried out asap approx £1k. The car park line marking was decided not to be a priority. The bund needs to be in place to enhance security at the site. Current quote £1200. Mr Savage & Mr Jones to arrange a meeting with Steve Parkin to discuss further.

£475 not spent on storage area capital monies to be carried forward (Clerk).

FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD

Tractor playing up – Mr Silsby to obtain a quote when the fan belt is repaired. Mr Perry advised issue with brook build up/narrowing, look into working party to clear. Mrs Milroy reminded all that Sunday 25th June is Wollaston Party in

the Park 12-4pm. Clerk to investigate Road Closure street furniture. Mr Boddington has a plan of the event – to be sent through to Mr. Perry. A list of requirements (ropes etc) to be brought to next meeting. Car park needs strimming Mr Savage to check when last undertaken by Hayeswood. Fence slat repairs have been carried out by Mr Savage & Jones. Cess Pit – Mr Jones & Savage to arrange a meeting with Marsh Industries to discuss further.

Hookhams Path – (£136k available to sports facilities) no further update. Mr Mitchell advised that this would probably not be available for at least a year. Mr Perry advised that they were investigating the possibility of an extension for additional space and that drawings were currently being worked on. Mr Perry to send all the quote for the MUGA. An additional green bin is required for the summer months – Clerk to investigate.
