WOLLASTON PARISH COUNCIL
PLAYING FIELD & PARKS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON Tuesday 14 March 2023, 7pm
At The Hill, Wollaston

MINUTES
The minutes of the last meeting from 14 February 2023 were agreed unanimously and signed as a correct record.
FINANCES
Finances to end of February 2023 had been circulated. EON tennis court floodlights energy charge £20.46, although a credit note has now been received and EDF have received meter readings and should be in the final stages of transferring the account over. Basket swing at St. Mary’s repairs £505. This leaves £3,062 remaining. The invoice for the 3 month contract for wheelie/recycling bins empty has been received to be paid in March @ £160 and the tree maintenance costs will be £2,000 for phase 2 works leaving approx. £900. It was agreed Mr Savage would look at some maintenance such as tennis courts clean/bench refurbishment. Bund quotes came in at £2,200 and £1,250, Mr Silsby will check with Mr Luck whether he or someone else can complete the works at a more competitive cost. The Clerk has put in a complaint to Zurich Insurance regarding the break in, in January 2022 as the assessor had not responded. A new assessor has taken over the case, but despite forwarding documentation on 22 February 2023, no response has been received. Mr Silsby will assist and chase.
PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE
Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheets to the Clerk. Points to note, St. Mary’s some play equipment to be repainted and benches refurbished. The safety audit for the Playing Field and St. Mary’s equipment is to be booked and see whether the basket swing at St. Mary’s needs new shackles.
POCKET PARK
The Pocket Park looks nice and tidy. Brixworth Country Park have contacted the Parish Council and asked whether we require any documents before they are destroyed. Clerk has asked which documents they have and if they are not duplicates, they can be collected. Await response.
SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT
Cricket will begin soon and it is hoped a friendly game will take place. The overseas player will be arriving from Sydney in April and has accommodation. Mr Silsby advised because the wall to the front of the patio area is unsafe, it will be removed and temporarily replaced with a metal fence. This will be adequate to hold the advertising boards. Mr Perry spoke to Mr Shelton and confirmed Scroxtons will be able to draw up plans for the proposed extension at the clubhouse at no cost which include the rebuild of the patio wall or similar dependant on plans. Vets are doing well and are third in the league. Youth is doing well. Football was called off last weekend due to the weather.
PURCHASES REQUIRED
As mentioned above in finances. Mr Perry had to turn the water off in the clubhouse during the cold weather as another water leak had been found. CC are applying for a grant for a new heating system.

FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD
Mr Silsby mentioned during the hot weather in the Summer the field was scorched so may require some maintenance which CC will pay for. Mr Savage confirmed the tree works had begun on Monday and continued today. Mr Escritt has asked whether he can use the trees owned by the PC for training, which Mr Savage has confirmed is acceptable. Clerk and Mr Savage have advised Mr Escritt to contact North Northants Council regarding the trees at Fellows Close and Orchard Close.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
A new date for the meeting was discussed as lots of training takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday. It was agreed Clerk will check with Messrs Cotter, Green and Perry to discuss possibly meeting on a Wednesday so more members of the Committee can attend. Once agreed, a new day can begin from May 2023. A new Clerk will be in place by May.
Next meeting will be Tuesday 11 April 2023, 7pm The Hill, Wollaston.
There being no further business the Chair thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 7.55pm.
