APOLOGIES

Apologies from Mr Cotter, Cllr Hodson, Cllr Atkinson and Mr Green.

FINANCES

PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE

Mr Savage confirmed that he had inspected the play and gym equipment and passed the inspection sheets to the Clerk.  St Mary’s – some painting is required and the petal rocker handle/new Kangaroo seat are being replaced/repaired on Friday 10th July.  London Road Playing Fields – trip point work at multi play area is being carried out on Friday 10th July.  The Spring Rocker was advised on the audit as having loose fixings, Mr Savage confirmed that previous attempts to tighten had failed – the Committee agreed to remove this piece of equipment and not replace as it was subject to vandalism.  Clerk to arrange.  The annual audits for both St Mary’s and London Road were reviewed and it was agreed that all relevant issues with a score of over 8 should be sent to Playground Supplies for a review/quotation.  It was agreed that the Committee should look at a new auditor for 2027 due to conflicting results.

MUGA UPDATE

The Playground Company have now completed the one-off free maintenance/top up for the Acrylic Surface top-up which was delayed due to wet weather.  Unfortunately, the surface on this court is poor and it was agreed to obtain quotes in 2027 for a complete re-surface. Annual Care package Artificial Grass Maintenance was carried out on Thursday 14th May.

Thank you to Mr Silsby for carrying out the weed spraying around the courts.  Thank you to Mr Savage, Jones and Threadgold for painting the benches and to Mr Perry, Savage and Threadgold for sorting the basketball units with replacement parts.  The courts continue to be well used, although rubbish continues to be an issue.

POCKET PARK

Mr Thompson continues to work hard keeping the garden tidy and the brown bin is being emptied fortnightly. Mr Savage to thank Mr Thompson on behalf of the committee.

SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

The cricket season is going well.  The ladies/girls’ softball team has attracted around 30 players and proving successful.  The Under 9’s have won a tournament, and all youth cricket teams are very competitive. The men’s teams are doing well and will remain in their current divisions. The recent cricket festivals were a success.  Football -The Vets have had a good season and won the league.  There will be no U18’s team, but the U15’s are expected to play in the Rushden and Diamonds slot.

Congratulations to Mrs Nadine Peat and Mr Neal Perry who both won County awards for their services to coaching.

High electricity bills continue to be an issue.  Mr Perry to compare June 2026 invoice to 2025.  There has been no update on the Solar Grant application.  Painting has been carried out in the changing rooms.  There is no date yet for the removal of the large wooden unit in the storage area.

Mr Matt Wallinger to be added as a tractor driver, paperwork to be completed.

PURCHASES REQUIRED

Petal Rocker Handle/Kangaroo Seat at St Mary’s and trip hazard flooring work at London Road with Playground Supplies @ £1,953.00.

Mr Silsby has ordered small sit-on mower for the areas on the field that require a time-consuming push mower @ £600 plus VAT.  The supplier has agreed to a two-month trial before payment is required.

Awaiting invoice for Day and Coles for the Mower repair.

Clerk to purchase a grease gun for the mower for Mr Jones.

Mr Savage to speak to Mr Norris regarding a quotation for bench removal.

FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD

Over recent weeks, there have been several gatherings involving underage alcohol consumption and illegal drugs resulting in paramedics attending.  Clerk to write a letter to Wollaston Secondary School for the newsletter to parents and also put out a message on Facebook.  The Police have been made aware and have increased their patrols of the area.  Notice to be put up advising “No Alcohol” – Clerk to arrange.  The Parish Council may consider closing off the field if this behaviour continues as the field is used as a safe space for youth training and recently a football training session had to be abandoned.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

To be confirmed.

There being no further business the Chair thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8.15pm.
