MINUTES
The minutes of the last meeting from 14th January 2026 were agreed unanimously and signed as a correct record.
FINANCES
Finances to end of January had been circulated. No issues.
New play equipment at St Mary’s and the tree work has been the main cause of exceeding the budget.
PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE
Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheets to the Clerk.
All urgent repairs for St Marys and London Road playparks as per the annual audits carried out in June and August of last year, have been mostly carried out by the contractor. There is painting still to be done, delayed due to the weather and the basket swing at St Mary’s has been removed and is due to be fitted on Friday 13th February after much delay.
MUGA UPDATE
The Floodlight fault has been established by the electrician and the committee agreed to proceed with the quotation of £332.08 to resolve. Mr Savage reported there are continued issues with the MUGA gate bolts working loose due to poor design, Mr Silsby to look into. Mr Savage and Mr Jones have put additional sand into the basketball bases and attempted to repair the bent hoop, however there is a spare hoop available, and this can be used.
POCKET PARK
Mr Thompson continues to work hard keeping the garden tidy and the brown bin is being emptied fortnightly.
SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT
The Sports Association has received some high utility bills in January for Calor gas and electricity (currently being investigated with the energy supplier) – main usage is the frost heaters and the wi-fi. The heat cables are now in place which will reduce the requirement for the heaters.
Football is going well, and although the pitch was heavily affected by the recent weather, it is recovering well after a period of rest.
Mr Atkinson attended the Steering Group meeting (NVP Football Hub) at the Secondary School on 29th January as the Parish Council representative. The school is struggling to fill the 9pm- 10pm slot for the new pitch and the need for village engagement was requested – the facility is open to all.
PURCHASES REQUIRED
Playground Supplies have been booked for Spring 2026 to carry out the complete wet pour surface replacement at the Pyghtles play area (£8,671 plus VAT) Historic Pyghtles/Neale Close S106 monies to be used.
ME Electrical (as above) £332.08 for the Floodlights.
FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD
Rabbit numbers continue to be monitored but the recent weather has been too wet for any work.
Bollard light is not working. Clerk to check when the annual service is due.
There has been a report of youths letting off Fireworks in the Playing Fields, no damage was caused, continue to monitor.
Mr Mitchell requested that the Sports Association spread the word to the sports clubs regarding the proposed recycling plant and leaflets were distributed.
