MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting from 8th November 2023 were agreed unanimously and signed as a correct record.

FINANCES

Finances to end of November 2023 had been circulated. The budget for 2024/2025 financial year was agreed with spends of £12,000, as per last financial year.  Clerk to look into invoicing Wollaston Youth FC a nominal hourly charge towards the Floodlight Energy Cost.  Previously charged at £3.50 per hour.  A Garden Bin has been purchased for the Pocket Park for an annual fee of £55.

PLAY EQUIPMENT AND ADULT GYM INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE

Mr Savage confirmed he had inspected the equipment and handed the inspection sheets to the Clerk.  Mr Savage has had no joy with making contact with Imperial Carpentry to look at Kangaroo spring and loose slats on seating, therefore Mr Savage to look at these if possible.  There was an arson incident at the Playing Fields picnic bench on Thursday 7th December between 22.10pm & 22.50pm.  CCTV is not very clear.  A crime number has been obtained and the excess on the insurance is £100.  Quote has been obtained for a new picnic bench (£660 & VAT & Installation) & also for replacement slats (£126).  Clerk has arranged for Mr Simon Norris to inspect on 14/12/23 for further advice.  Clerk to contact Schmitz Cabling for a quote for CCTV at the Play area possibly erected on a pole or a wildlife camera strapped to a tree.  Clerk to publish photographs and a report of the incident onto Facebook to reach out for further information on the culprits.

POCKET PARK

Opening & closing of the Pocket Park by Scott Bader Security is going well and Mr Savage passed his thanks on for this.

New Brown Garden Waste Bin has been purchased and first collection was successful.  Next collection January 9th 2024.

SPORTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

Football is going well.  There have been no games for a couple of weeks due to the weather conditions.  Youth Football pitch markers are currently out on injuries, therefore training required for other Youth Coaches as currently being covered by the adult football.

Cricket – no issues.  Process is ongoing for obtaining the overseas player.  Accommodation for the overseas player is proving challenging due to a price increase of £60pw for next year with the previous landlord.

PURCHASES REQUIRED

Balance of Tree maintenance at the Pocket Park will be carried out on January 10th 2024.  Pocket Park to be opened before 8am for this.

Phase 1 of the anti-frost heaters at the Clubhouse has been completed. Invoice for £518 has been paid by the Parish Council to date.  Phase 2 will continue in January, currently on hold due to high quoted cost of the heaters.

FIELD MAINTENANCE/MATTERS RELATING TO THE FIELD

Due to the Wollaston resident who historically lowered the Playing Fields bollard at 6.30am daily, moving, there has been an issue whereby the bollard has not been lowered (or lowered much later in the day).  The Committee are looking at potential people who could possibly cover this or setting up a Whatsapp Group rota.  Mr Silsby to advise.

Mr Silsby asked the Clerk to look back at the Insurance Claim for details or a quote for the Compound Gate Repair.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

Wednesday 10th January 2024 at 7pm at the Hill Club, 122 High Street, Wollaston.

There being no further business the Chair thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8pm.
