Jonathan Alms

Wollaston Parish Councillor

I became a Parish Councillor in 2010, wanting to be part of “The Big Society”.  I stood as an Independent at the Parish Council elections in May 2021, as I feel that party politics are not relevant in a village community.   I have enjoyed getting involved with many village affairs, including The Youth Group, Footpaths and, in 2021, the Manchester Bomber Memorial. My plans for the future include re-starting the village Fete, twinning with a village in France and a campaign to eliminate litter in the village.

I moved to the village in 1999 with my family, when working for the former British Timken in Northampton.  I studied Mechanical Engineering at University, before serving in the British Army for 4 years, after which I worked for different industries in Aerospace, Engineering and Energy.  Currently, I am a Civil Servant, working in International Trade.
